Sound Sparkle {Freebie}

Hi Friends!  I've been enjoying my {extra} hour of Daylight Savings!  Building solid phonemic awareness skills is so important in creating that solid foundation for our students to be successful in reading and writing.  One of the phonemic awareness skills I work on with my kiddos throughout the year is the automaticity of our letter sounds.  It's about that time of year when I have to start spicing things up, so I've put together a lil 2-minute video Sound Sparkle.  In this video each letter for about 2-seconds, students will have to respond with the letter sound.  This is a great resource for RtI, reading groups, partnerships, whole group using a projector or IWB. A great alternative to traditional flashcards!   I'd love to hear your feedback!

  2. Hi Karla! Welcome to had me at SPARKLE! :) I just posted a few things about how I do my conferences {had them last week} if you'd like to come over and take a look. I even made a more parent-friendly Common Core checklist that I gave out because our new report cards are complicated. I'm not a blog expert but if you have any questions let me know! I'm a new follower! :)

    LOVIN' your BLOG!

  4. I currently have a school-issued MacBook, but I was wondering about the Air. Does it have a CD/DVD drive in it? I heard that you had to get an external one for it. Other than that, I'm tempted to get one because mine is so slooooowwwwwww.....

    And a tech tip, I followed your link from another blog, but you didn't do the HTML quite right, which is a mistake I made all of the time :) Make sure that you put the http:// before your web address or people won't make it to your cute blog! :) Oh, and you might want to remove the captcha (?) verification because it makes it harder to comment on your posts.

  5. Thanks for the tips Diane! The Air does not have an CD/DVD drive, you have to buy an external one. But honestly, I haven't missed it once. Everything is downloadable now. I did receive a couple CD's from a conference and just uploaded them on my PC and moved the items over to my Air via Dropbox. Memory can also be a problem for some as it is also limited, I keep all my "old" stuff on my PC and backed up externally, I only dive into those files once in a blue moon, so it's not a problem. The Air is so light and so fast, you can take it anywhere!

  6. Love your new blog!! I ended up with a MacBook Pro... I went back and forth between a Pro and an Air forever ;) I am switching from a PC and still need to transfer everything to my new computer {and I'm not very excited about that process!!} I should be prepping for conferences and grading my spelling tests right now, but here I am!! Have a great week!

  8. Hi Karla,
    Great blog, I found you through currently. I'm your newest follower. Yeah, I would love some assistant to help me with grading too. Wouldn't that be the best. If CEO's had to do all their own work and teachers had assistants. Have a great turkey day!!
